This is a personal site, made for the purpose of showing a few of my photographs,
and to prove that I can still code a website. Nowadays, someone would probably
just have an AI bot write the code, but I guess I'm old-fashioned.
I haven't done very much of the
bland SEO homogenizing that I'd need to do
to improve the odds that a Google search would push it to the top,
but hopefully the few people -- mostly close friends and relatives --
who will ever actually look at this site will have a better experience
than if I'd followed the generic recipe.
Many years ago I created a personal website using basic HTML and Perl scripts,
but I long since took it down because I never seemed to get around to upgrading it.
Now I have time again. This time I'm making more use of CSS style sheets
than I did the first time, and on-the-fly decisions are made with JavaScript
rather than Perl.
For this newer version, in addition to photographs I included some articles and essays.
But early on, I moved most of them to
Medium.com, made extensive rewrites, and added some more.
All of them concern photography or generative AI.
Links to each of them are in the header menu above.
What About the Real World?
I had originally intended to include more essays concerning social commentary and
other topics related to real life.
But I eventually realized that,
apart from photography and certain issues concerning generative AI,
there's not much I could write that hasn't been written already,
over and over and over,
often by people more knowledgeable than I am as to such things.
So for now, let's just say:
I don't use generative AI to help me with my writing or my photography.
I only posted anything on Facebook once ever, and that was one time too many.
I drive a hybrid but,
if I move on to buying a fully-electric car, it won't be a Tesla.
For the time being, I'll leave it at that.
Note: Photo resolution is pretty small on tiny screens. For better results,
use a desktop or a laptop or a large tablet. Don't expect too much from a phone
or a small tablet.
